Needing help with Tank Commander

I just ordered tank commander and I'm trying to figure out how to get across the bridge during the first mission without having it destroyed. I've shot the artilery thhingy at a minimal optimal level like the help file told me to, but it still gets destroyed. Any advice on this?

What are you using? Definitely don't use cruise missiles. Other than that I'm not sure why you'd be having problems.

Use standard rounds and you want to be 900 meters (I think it's meters) away. I generally save them for last, as your enemy tanks will try and shoot you, potentially destroying their own bridge with their shrapnel. remember your shells are shells, which means they explode and spread shrapnel in the immediate area around the explosion site. Frankly I'm rather impressed with the game physics in Tank Commander.
But I have it installed on the wife and daughter's computer so don't get to it as often as I might anymore.

Definitely use standard shells. Once you are in the target range, back your tank up so that the shell would fall 20 to 30 feet in front of the gun. Use your tab key to check how far you are to the target.

i must get a new unlock code for tank commander. since changing pc's twice, i've not installed it. and the code is linked to the locking code of the pc i think.

Also, steer clear of the bridge until you're sure all tanks are destroyed.

That's one thing I don't like about GMA's games, that they're all computer specific. I understand why David does this but it does create a certain amount of inconvenience and not just for the end user. If and when I start creating commercial games with Blastbay's Game Toolkit (a goal I hope to eventually achieve), I don't think I'll do that. If I do go the hardware route I'll probably do what BSC Games does and offer all registered users of my games a certain number of unlock codes per game per year. So let's say I created a game called Cedric's Quest, which is indeed a potential title for the fantasy side scroller I'm hoping to create eventually. Purchasers of Cedric's Quest would get, let's say four or five unlock codes per year for that title and the same number for any other commercial titles of mine they owned. This would be free of charge. That way in the event of a system crash or a desire or need to install the games on other machines to which they have access they could do so without having to pay extra.

I wish Tank Commander had joystick / game controller support that would be cool. Though I realize you can use the game controller's software to create a profile for this, the Saitek one I have is pretty hard to do that with for blind users.

All right, everything's squared away. I have made it across the bridge. Thanks all for your help.

That's a fairly easy one. Sector five though, that's another matter. I've never beaten that one.

I've beaten the entire game. The hardest is the rocket propelled grinades that you have to block without having any warning other than the noise they make. Which, just happens to be quiet, so you can be shooting your machine gun at the ground forces, and suddenly you explode without warning. That was the hardest part of the whole game. I figured out a pretty good way to beat level five.
